If you are interested in racing, then consider entering the Deronda Type F in the Midengined Sports Car series . This series was highly successful during its first year in 2004 with racing at major UK circuits including Mallory, Oulton, Snetterton, Thruxton, Brands, Pembrey, Silverstone and Donington. Some venues offer two races per meeting. Deronda will enter a Type F at selected races during 2005.
Longer term, Deronda intends to set up a one-design race series aimed at owners who want to race at weekends, but don't have the time to spend on set-up, maintenance and tyre testing or prolonged practice sessions.
The cost of racing will be minimised by using standard road cars to a strict "one-design". It will be possible to drive to the track - race - and drive home again. So the series will appeal to drivers who don't necessarily want to buy a trailer or transporter. In addition to factory support at the circuit a recovery service will be available should a car be damaged.
One-design means the factory will produce a car which is only eligible for the race series if it has not been modified in any way, except to be brought up to the current Deronda production specification. This will be strictly enforced - all replacement parts fitted must be to the original or current Deronda specification.
With an objective to provide cost effective racing it is important to reassure competitors that the one-design rule does not result in high parts prices, so a parts price list will be readily available.
